Default Having issues with my transmission after having my engine replaced

So my engine blew and I took it to a shop and had them put in another engine, this was just 3 weeks ago and today while driving it just stopped working. Had it taken back to the same shop and they said the transmission pump is broken, my question is how could this have happened? Did they mess something up when they replaced the motor and are they liable for the transmission pump or am I just screwed and have to buy a new pump and labor to have it installed? Appreciate any response

They almost certainly ruined the pump by being sloppy with the torque converter. Either they removed it completely and didn't re-install correctly, or it came out partially and they just forced it back in.
I'm 99+ % sure it was their fault.

Its probably their fault but I dont imagine that theyll own up to it. So as far as the bill goes unfortunately Id probably be paying a different shop to fix the transmission. I wouldnt want to give the shop that broke it my money again.

Sounds about right! Thanks for the response, going to call them in the morning and if they don't own up to it I'll take your advice and go to a different shop.

Man, good luck. Try and keep your cool, I know itll be tough. If you can swing it, upgrade something if theres something to upgrade so at least the screwing will be pseudo fruitful.

How many miles on the trans? If it has many miles, its a slippery slope from just opening it to needing a complete rebuild. For example, removing the pump might/likely tear the sealing rings on the input shaft; and so on.
If the original shop won't admit to their mistake, give them bad Google and Yelp reviews, complain to BBB and look up how to file a small claims court. They might decide it better long term to pay for a trans rebuild. If they do, remove the bad reviews. I think that the forum rules allow you to mention their name and city here too, just not complete contact info.

If you paid the first shop by crdit card......dispute it.

Precisely why I pay everything with a credit card. I recently had a transmission issue immediately after putting my new engine in. gave the car to a tranny shop to look every wire, harness, plug, etc on the outside oveer to see if they see anything before they open it up to swap parts. Well they opened it up, swapped both shift solenoids and the problem was still there. They charged me $300.00 to drop the pan, swap the solenoids and put new fluid and gasket and filter in and bolt the pan back on.

But if they really did their job and just looked at the woring harness plug going into the tranny they clearly would have seen a ground wire pulled out of the plug end.

Towed it to another shop and they saw the wire and took a picture.

AMEX reversed charges and case closed. **** these scumbag shops that try to screw people.

Is the transmission you are referring to the one in this thread?

Yes. All that was wrong with my transmission from my other thread was one ground wire was pulled out of the plug that connects to the transmission connector. If that first tranny shop would have done what I asked them to do which was simply check those two plug ends and make sure all pins were good and no burnt marks or breaks in anything electrical on the outsidefor the $75.00 diagnostic fee they charge to do that....basically look over and verify everything externally electrical was okwe wont have to go further and drop the pan and swap shift solenoids. But they obviously didnt even unplug that main cable otherwise they would have seen the ground wire literally hanging out of the plug end.

So. Im sure they just dropped the pan, swapped the solenoids and said they cant fix it. And figured lets charged him the $300.00 for 20 minutes of work and if it fixes it greatif not tell him we tried.

I was just looking on his website. A 4L60E to 4L80E harness of his costs $342.99? I'm in the wrong business LOL... I got my conversion harness for $16 with the VSS included.
Granted, I had to ohm the wires and put them in the correct spots because every wire was pinned wrong, but that only took 20 minutes and about what I expected for $16....

I'm hoping the OP will bring this thread back on topic. And hopefully with good news.
