Remove the front sway bar, power steering, ABS and all the creature comforts, gut the doors, remove the carpet and anything stereo related, install Lexan windows. Oh yeah then add some of it back with a nice racing seat and roll cage. Safety first!

I havent weighed mine but I am for sure cutting weight while keeping creature comforts. Ive done the gutted race car thing and sure missed wipers and power windows. And heaven forbid we dont have heaters in Northern MN lol

On these cars its amazing the amount of weight you can cut when you start looking for it.
The amount of weight I saved just by building a bumper support was wild.

I am hell bent on building a competitive no prep car with the comforts

Competitive no prep WITH comforts is going to take some serious power and a very well tuned suspension setup. its not an easy task but I commend your efforts.

For my personal car (New Edge Mustang) I decided to hit the easy button and just make it super light. I'm 2500lbs before driver with the current iron block 4.6 and I'm building a new aluminum SBF that will be lighter and make more power.

Yeah its been interesting. Had we not had a set of lifters let go and wipe out a bunch of motor pieces itd be a little farther ahead. Granted going to the aluminum block helped save some weight. So I guess not all bad!
This winter the cage goes in as the motor, trans, and rear end are done and will probably get a bit of weight reduction (Tubular front end, sound deadening removal, lighten the doors).
I am hoping to come in around 3000 with me in it.

My 01 comes in at 3840 with me in it and that's with an LSX block. It runs consistently in the 11's and is a manual street car with all of the creature comforts. The 99 not so much but it still has heater and defrost. I like to track the car when the weather is cooler anyways.
