Well I think I have covered all ,
My shift kit is well explained and mods. These have been in used for years and have worked well for me. The newest things being the ORINGED plugs and bore plugs along with the band pin sealing rings.

To me detain is the most important thing and a few notes here,

1-YES you can machine a pump face including pocket on a lathe.
2-The oringed bore plugs are superior to just new ones and new one with orings even better, The orings not only seal but limit movement of the plugs where the plugs alone don't do as well in either situation as they do not account for bore wear
3-The best thing to use to block the two holes for the overun mod is 3/16th rod , However i bought some stock and plan to make plugs that exact fit the holes.
4-using the superior super servo with the SONNAX 4TH is possible but requires machining of the superior center servo piece to work properly and this would be required with any flat surfaced 4th servo.
5-Never swap pump faces and backs unless both are machined, I tested about 5 and found that NONE of them were straight. Though the two sides do warp with each other so will still seal as long as kept with each other. If you face pump you must face pocket by equal amount or find slide assembly that will work height wise.
6-The atsg manual and the gm tech Manual are in contradiction of each other on the plate holes and purposes, I spent considerable time tracing and making notes the GM TECH MANUAL is correct
7-You can use the GM late bonded plates on anything but 93 and 94 units , However always check that all holes are present or not. This should be done with any replacement plate. But note sometimes extra holes are not an issue as some are over void areas in VB.
8- Servo set up is a two part set up and both the 4th and the 2nd servo should be in contact with the pin before you set actual band clearance.
9- I do not care for the sonnax tap in fix for the 3rd accum system, The stock setup works just fine, just make sure the ball seats and seals.
10 - IMO the helper release springs should always be used and are very important with HIGH RPM operation, Heavy duty and stock applications not so much important.
11- The OVERUN mod is the single most important mod in HI PERF high power operation, But always explain to customer they will feel the 3-2 downshift coming to a stop.
12- NEVER Block the slide in a proper Newly machined pump as the slide is part of the regulation circuit.
13- For me .093 Feed sizes are perfect for all but the 2nd feed at check ball if HD-STOCK or using the SUPERIOR OS SONAX SUPER SERVOS I use .083 here.
14- I prefer the teflon rings over the drings on the second servo with exception is the sonnax servo where i like one dring and one teflon
15-The most common in a rebuild is not addressing all the leaks in the 3-4 circuit in particular bore plugs and input shaft.
16- Clutch type - brand are not nearly as important as the hydraulics people spend way to much time obsessing over this.
17- With the 3-4 set it is a game of what you need , With HD and stock application's where a lot of cycling 2-3 3-2 is happening a 7 friction set is best with thickest steels possible and always when stacking the pack use thickest steels to outside of the pack as this helps with the whole packs integrity. With high power applications an 8 or 9 friction setup may be preferred for holding. However the thinner the steels the more aggressive the shifts must be set up to be.
New or machined apply and backing plates are a must for the 3-4 set, the New GM plates will likely need to be machined to as they are close but no cigar, The new sonnax are flat and perfect as long as using stock friction number and thickness clutch set up.
18-Tuning notes are - In virtually every tune I have looked at they are factory set up with a pull back of the line during the 2-3 amd 3-2 shifts, Eliminating this will make for a clunkyer feel on these shifts but also will greatly improve clutch life.
19- When using a new aftermarket input drum, I prefer the sonnax smart drum as i know for a fact they use a brand new drum from GM in this production.
20- Stages AKA LEVELS are just general guidelines with any units sold or built to give customer guidelines to help choose. Without detailed build sheets they tell you very little.

Those are notes I may add them from time to time, Again this is not a tips and tricks this is thread which really covers what I I do with every 4l60e build , With the various stages only hard parts change and vary.

Some things I do are not listed such as how to do the low/rev mod to bring on this set in D4 or D3 but i will at some point ad that to the tips and tricks thread, Right now just trying to decide th easiest way for a novice to make this mod and not included here as its something for very specific applications.

Comments / Questions / Suggestions always welcome as that is mostly why I make these post to promote interaction and discussion.
