Yank 3600 Torque Converter
It will be hard to get a full quart of fluid into the converter. When filling the converter, the fluid level will creep down after filling. I just fill to the base of the hub and leave it at that. In my opinion, all that is needed is a little fluid in the converter to lube it for a few seconds until the pump can fill it.
As to the amount of fluid you will need will depend on how big of a mess you want to make on the floor. I have never been able to remove a trans from an f-body without removing the dipstick tube from the trans case. When removing the dipstick tube fluid will run out onto the floor. I feel it is best to remove the pan and change the filter while the pan is off. You can figure that the converter will hold 2 to 2 1/2 quarts and the pan will hold 4 to 5 depending on the pan that you have. I would also blow or flush the cooler lines and cooler so add 1 quart for that. So, 7 to 9 quarts will be needed.
As for filling converter I am really not big on this, Truth is the converter will be full about 10 seconds after you start the car. Some say it soaks the clutch but that will happen pretty quick to while you finish filling check for leaks and run through gears preferably with wheels off ground before test driving.
Back to TYPE F it does not have the correct friction modifiers for a PWM type system . If you use it you will likely get converter chatter on lockup which is not pleasant.
My preference is DEX6 but dex three up is fine.
