1998 4L60e on a 6.0 ls I’m having trouble getting a straight answer on the transmission I’m putting behind my 6.0 ls. I have a 1998 OBS I’m ls swapping. I have read through forum after forum and I can’t get a real answer. I’m hoping someone can tell me if it will work. It’s the original 1998 transmission behind the vortec 350. I need to know before I dump money into a rebuild. Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

You need some special GM Performance flex plate, which is kinda expensive. I think some guys ream out the holes on their LS flex plates to them align, but I wouldn't do that myself...
Why can't you just get an "LS" specific 4L60e? I guess the 6.0 technically got the 4L65e...Then everything matches like it came from the factory.

Can it be used YES but will require a sleeve adapter for the converter hub as the vortec is a 298 mm shaft and the 6.0 would have had a 300mm shaft, You will need to us the bell that came with it , It will be missing the top center hole, But not an issue and you may have to in longate the converter bolt holes slightly since the vortech uses the 298mm shaft converter,
Optionally you can also change out the input drum, pump stator and bell to the 300mm style and be able to use the 300mm LS converter, since you are building the trans anyway. I actually do this alot as those cores are usually dirt cheap because of little demand and the engines they came behind so anemic the parts are awesome wear and abuse wise.
NOTE : this all assumes a a pre 2007 application and not a 2006 TBSS as those require an ISS (Input speed sensor and of course the 2009 up have even more significant changes)
