Default 4l60 to a earlier 6.0 with long crankshaft

I have a 1999 Silverado I'm swapping from a v6 to a 6.0. I have a 4l60 I'm wanting to use but I've been told that it won't work with a 6.0 with the long crankshaft. I've also been told all I need is a spacer to make it work. Can someone please point me in the right direction to what I need to make it work? Thanks.

The answer depends upon whether you have a 298MM or very different 300mm 4L60E. The older (weaker) 298mm 4L60E will work perfectly with a long crankshaft LS 6.0. The newer (stronger) 300mm 4L60E will not work directly with a long crankshaft LS engine; it is possible, but you would need either a custom converter or a very expensive ($400+) GM bell housing extender.
You might also consider a 4L80E as that will also work perfectly with a long crankshaft LS 6.0; might even be what the engine originally had.
BTW - when I say "weaker" or "stronger", I am referring to their stock condition; the 298mm trans can be build just as strong with an overhaul and upgraded parts.

The 300mm 4L60E can be recognized by the bolt hole in the 12 O'Clock position in the bell housing.

I'm not 100% sure about which 4l60 I have, but it came out of a 2001 Silverado. The wine i have did have a 4l80 behind it originally but i don't have it. I'd prefer the 80 but it's been hard trying to locate one someone is will to let go of.
