Default Looking for Feedback from LS1 F-body Owners!

I’m an engineering student working on a new transmission crossmember for 4L60E-equipped Camaros/Firebirds (1993–2002). My goal is to build a better solution that improves fitment, weight, and strength without costing race-day money.
  • What’s been your biggest frustration with aftermarket crossmembers?
  • What features do you wish they had?
  • Would you prefer aluminum or chromoly?
Appreciate any feedback you guys can share!

It will all depend on if the cat has full exhaust, or the exhaust stops at the headers. If car has on exhaust, I haven't had any problems. If running full exhaust, we need more clearance for the exhaust to pass by the crossmember.

I would prefer a crossmember that I can weld to so that would leave aluminum out. The crossmember is such a small piece that there wouldn't be that much weight savings using chromoly to justify the higher cost.
