6l80 35r Hey guys rebuilding this 6l80e i rebuilt the reverse clutch drum and i went to air test it and the 35r stays engaged after letting go of pressure only will disengage if i put air into the port next to 35r which is CF. if i put pressure thru that port the piston will retract. this unit had no kind of return plate or anything for the 35r. original transmission of the truck. only return plate is for the 1234 clutch’s which is a small one. is this normal? or did i assemble something wrong? hold pressure only leaks thru bleed hole. no cracks.

In order to produce modern Longitudinal Automatic Transmissions (6-Speed and up) in as small and light weight of a package as possible...
Much of these Transmission Designs differ significantly from earlier Models (4-Speed and Older).
One such design change is the lack of any Clutch Pack Apply Piston Return Spring Cage Assemblies (or maybe one in the entire Unit).
This is done to reduce the length/ size of the overall Transmission Assembly.
Instead the Clutch Pack Apply Pistons are generally Un-Applied by opposing Hydraulic Fluid.
In this situation, Compensator Feed Fluid returns the Clutch Pack Apply Pistons.
Much of these Transmission Designs differ significantly from earlier Models (4-Speed and Older).
One such design change is the lack of any Clutch Pack Apply Piston Return Spring Cage Assemblies (or maybe one in the entire Unit).
