MAF ends or In need of shift kit?
MAF ends or In need of shift kit? Well I have 2000 SS with a gtp 224/224 .581" .581" 114lsa cam, their stage 2 heads, whisper lid, maf ends, ported tb from mti, ls6 intake, full exhaust, etc. with a vig 3000 stall, and a custom tune. My question is this, when shifting 1-2, 2-3, etc. it seems to almost "slip" or whatever you want to call it into those gears, its not really shifting hard like a stock ls1 will. Just doesn't seem to shift near as hard as a stock ls1 car does. I've heard that having MAF ends can cause these cars to lose their shift firmess and mess things up. Do you all think that,the MAF ends is the problem, or that I just need to have a shift kit installed, or what? Any input would be helpfull. Thanks.
EDIT: I do have LS1-Edit for the car that I kind-of know my way around with, so if it's something that can be fixed with that please let me know or direct me where I need to go to figure this out. Thanks.

I would say both. Since you have a stall, it would be wise to get a shift kit. It will help with the very slugish shifts after the converter install. Also make sure to get a tranny cooler if you don't already have one. There is a great thread by Jimmy Blue, I belive, giving the facts of how horrible maf ends are. Put the stock ends back on. I'll try and find the thread and post the link.
Due to the increased air flow with the maf ends it might be effective to raise your maf frequenzy table by about 10%. The pcm is unable to detect a larger flowing maf so it'll see less air flowing across the table which will end up leaning the car out and having shift pressure below where it should be.
