need help picking a converter for stock internals
I plan on all the bolt ons: Kooks Headers, ASP Pulley, Shift kit,LS6 Intake, 3:42's. and LS1 Edit by Slowhawk. The car right now is a daily driver and that might not be changing anytime soon. But i've had a car with a TH350 with 3:73's and drove 30 miles one way to work, so drivabilty doenst really bother me neither does gas mileage. I want a stall thats gonna net me 1.4-1.5 60fts and get me into the 11's. I was thinking somewhere around 4000, which one is the question. what do you guys recommend, lets keep into account that I do street race alot so it has to benefit the street too. And I do plan on dropping a cam into the car shortly after i pull 11's stock internals.
thanks
Marco
i can definitely see 1.5s with the right setup, but 1.4s would be TOUGH.
i went mid 1.6s on 17 inch drag radials with a full weight (minus jack and spare) car that had only bolt-ons and a 3400 stall 2.5 STR TCS converter. The car ET'd consistently in the 12.10s-12.20s @ 110-111 mph.
my new vig 3200 true stalls at 3800 (they underrate the crap out of them) and i could see it dipping into the 1.5s on a stickier tire.
check my sig for my mods as it sounds like you want a setup similar to mine. i'm hoping that with this new converter, i can crack the 11s on motor given the right conditions and a sticky track.
in conclusion, i would go for a 3800 to 4200 stall with a 2.5 or better STR. good luck.
