On my way to work today, I noticed that I had an SES light, followed by the fact that my car would no longer shift into 4th gear. I had my Predator with me and scanned the car. Showed up at DTC P0757 -- shift solenoid B, stuck open.
Now, how the hell do I fix this thing? I was told that in order to replace the solenoids, I would have to drop the tranny!!!!!? Is this true? Anyone else have this issue before? Any advise? Car has 13,500 miles on it.

Just pull the pan and look up toward the rear of the valve body in the center. Thier are two idenical shift solenoids. Just use a pick and pull out the small u-shaped clip out and the solenoids pull out. Replace both while your in there. They are the same part number. Also when you pull the clips, hold on to the solenoids as sometimes the spring loaded valve behing them likes to shoot out. Its an easy job.

I have the exact same problem. How's the car shifting now?? The exact same thing happened to me but only ONCE. I was told that it happens because of the high stall, and judging from your sig, I see the VIG 3200. I was told that if it happens again just to pull over, turn the car off for a bit and then turn it back on. The SES light just went off for me after a while, BUT I got it again and I had no 1st or 4th gear. Let me know if changing the solonoids fixed the problem for sure so that I can do it.

I just put a stall in my car..kept throwing the code. Turned off the code in Edit...no more problems. Do a search on here..I think I searched for P0757. You'll get lots of results. Basically...it's a common code to throw in 2001-2002 cars with a stall. It seemed to be occuring more in the larger stalls...but I guess a 3200 could do it too. I believe you'll need HPTuners or LS1Edit to turn the code off...I don't think Predator will do it...but I've never worked with it.

The way I get around the P0157 is drive the car in 3rd around town, then when you get on the highway put the shifter in 4th....I've explained my method in previous threads, you can do a search for it.
Or you could the smart thing and just have it turned off, which I plan to do whenever I get to the shop....but I have been telling myself that for about 6 months

That would be like denying a broken transmission claim due to clear taillights.
