I forgot to ask this before: On the freeway you are doing 65MPH and floor it will it pull harder or will it slow you down?

it'll pull harder, but it may not downshift as hard and slam you right into the seat, more like you'll hear the car start to rev and then it'll pull like crazy.

From what i have heard the bigger the stall the more chances you have to pull a 6-speed on the highway..Dont know if it is true or not but if there is anybody else in here that knows about it..chime in!!

I would not want to stall on the freeway - no brakes, no power steering, that could be dangerous.

ive always wondered the same thing. if it will pull harder why do cars with a stall always trap so low? you see times like 12.2 at 110?? i ran a 12.9 at 109.8 with a cutout and lid

The cars trapping 110 on a 12.2 run more than likely have less rwhp than you do. They trap that high because of the higher stall converter. I've seen cars pick up 3mph from just a stall converter change.

maybe you can't drive/ hook up. with a 110 trap (109.8 is basically 110) you should be able to go like 12.5 at least with a good 60ft. stalled cars don't trap lower- they get the MOST out of the hp/trap you already have.

me- 12.8 @ 106mph, 273's. stall and lid only ( and nitto's). now some may say that trap is low- but i think that mindset is retarted. i think i got the most out of the car that could be gotten, with my given modifications and hp. if i went 112 and only went 12.8 i'd be PISSED! because i would know the car did not reach it's full potential.

The right high stall converter can make you deadly when racing from a roll. A lot of A4 racers trap lower than M6 cars because they run no gear. 2.73 and 3.23 gears usually mean you're riding the converter through the traps...by that I mean you've not surpassed the coupling point of the converter. Add more gear (like a 3.73 or or 4.10) and you'll see your mph come closer in line with the M6 cars in trap speed. Sadly, the gears won't necessarily net you much of a quicker ET, just a rise in mph. That's why so many racers just stick with higher stall converters and stock rear gears.

I gained on highway runs. I can hang or now pull on cars that I could not with the stock converter. However, from a 60 puch you won't get a neck breaking down shift, more like a rev and pull as the above people have mentioned. I believe the trans slips some on a 4-2 wot downshift. However, if i'm setting up a race, i'll pull down into 2nd befor "honking the horn" so you won't have a slip or downshift delay when you go, you'll win more races
I also gained about 1 to 2 mph at the track. I have 3.42 gears.
