tranny fluid?

tranny fluid? How often do you guy's add a quart trann fluid? Here's my problem, I drive my car for lets say 1500 miles with no problems, then I might hit rev limiter. I check my fluid and it's a little low, but I never see any leaking fluid on garage floor. I add a quart the rev limit problem goes away. My question is, does tranny fluid burn like motor oil? I'm just a little lost, Thanks in advance.
