Default Tranny slipping?

I already tried to search for this:

I've been having some probs with my tranny and it seems to have just gotten a lot worse. I just had FLP headers installed but I doubt that is related-just made me notice it. If I take the car up to like 4k rpms and hold it there, the rpms will jump about 400 when the car shifts. At WOT, it will hit the rev limiter. Just today I was driving it causiously b/c I just picked it up and it wasnt shifting out of first until it got up to 3k rpms at very low throttle. Maybe nothing is wrong but it seems like it is. (the car just threw an SES but I think that's from the headers) My best guess that I can come up with is that the converter itself is bad. I just had the converter installed in July and haven't put many miles on the car with NO track passes. Almost all the miles have been just normal driving, very little abuse.

3-4 clutch... rebuild time. or it could be just the stall speed of the converter with the headers, just somehow thru ur **** off.. but if u didn't install a trans cooler with that converter, its teh 3-4 clutch, check ur trans fluid, pull the pan, if it aint red, u burnin some clutch lol.. just pulled out a buddy's car.. his were bare metal, no fiber what so ever, thing wouldn't shift into 3rd or 4th gear.. rebuild kit cost him 268$ and he got a few other goodies put in like a trans cooler this time.

i would only think it wasn't a trans problem if it was only doing it at wot there would be a chance it could be elsewhere if it was just hitting the limiter.. but now that its doing it all the time.. im thinking 3-4 clutch for sure, just wanted to post again to clear that up! order a overhaul kit with performance clutches, talk to them on the phone, or go to a trans shop u trust, and make sure they put the right parts in!

There is a trans cooler on it. The car will shift into 3rd or 4th, but you still could be right that it needs a rebuild. Kind of sux that my trans only has 35k miles on it-of course if it is only gonna run me $300 to get it fixed, I'm not too upset. I guess that it could be that the stall speed is messed up with the headers, but I hit the rev limiter before the header install and it happened more often when the car hadn't been driven for that long and got better when the car was fully heated up.

Well I'm getting it scanned this weekend. It sounds from a lot of ppl that the 3-4 clutch is most likely dead, and I'll have to drop some major bank to get this fixed. Hopefully I can get this thing fixed correctly the first time and everything will be OK after this.

There is black powder on the dipstick and it smells a little burnt. It seems to be getting worse fast and I actually think that the problem might be that it won't shift into 2nd. I am planning on getting the tranny rebuilt (for like 600), but I have to have someone else take the tranny out for me b/c I dont have the tools or time to do it. Hopefully precision industries will clean the TC out if I send it in for my free restall... I really can't afford another TC. This really pisses me off that my tranny only lasted 32k miles (I checked for sure today), and Speed Inc said that my tranny would last 2 years if I didn't abuse it. Well I didn't-no track passes or even street passes- and I need a rebuild after 6 months from the TC install.

Yep...it's the old burnt 3/4 clutch pack...raising it's ugly head yet again...

It's getting rebuilt this week. There's a guy near me that works at a trans shop and is doing the rebuild for me on the side for 600 so that's not too bad. The last time I drove it, it wouldn't shift into second so it really needed rebuilt. I'm prolly going to order a shift kit now and a deep pan so at least I'll have a better trans after this (it's getting beefed up slightly now too).
