ok, if you hade that much power (450hp n/a) with my tranny, you'll have no problems at all. I've had it for a while now, and i'll let you know wat it thinks about the new motor, but for that power output, you'll have no problem.
My biggest concern with nirtous is that it is a sudden surge of power and not a gradual one like n/a or FI. But since it is a surge, and no matter wat you have behind it, it will wear considerly quicker than a non nitrous application. If you push a 150 shot, that would get you theoretically at 600hp, which is close. and now add the wear from the nitrous surge and you'll be cutting to close for my liking. But it'll hold. Now add the 400shot....there is no way that the 4l6oe will like that kind of surge. thats about 850hp!!! thats why im considering on FI and im looking for alternatives......
basically, the "smaller" shot with that power output should be fine, My suggestion is that no nitrous system should be installed without a progressive controller and look into that if you hadnt already. Personally i think the wear on the motor, tranny will be drastically less than without it. the bigger shot, well, look into another tranny like im doing or a solution that hasn't really presented itself for the 4l60e......
good luck and if your considering that kind of power, than why not FI? It may cost more but it will always be there when you need it!!!

So what kind of tranny are you looking at? 200r4 or 4l80e?
Also i really don't need 800hp for day to day driving, it really won't be very streetable at all. Hell i might just run something like a 300 or 400shot once and it might scare the **** outta me and i might never run it again. It's not that it's gonna be a everyday thing, i doubt it would even be a once a month thing. It's just the idea of knowing it's there if you need it.

I run a Century 4L60. Ronnie is the guy there that builds all of their race trannys. He told me that with the 5 gear planitary they have 4 cars running between 600-750 rwtq. My 98s tranny works real good with the Vortech, the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are so fast you cant believe it. I`ve run this tranny for almost 5 years, about 11/2 years ago I had it upgraded to the 5 gear planitarys+ new clutches, bands. The tranny has at least 450 runs on it from 10.9- 11.2 and a best of 10.33 with the newly added Vortech.

Damn good way to lighten your bank account up...
