Decided on Converter instead of n2o for 1st major mod. What problems can I expect without tuning capabilities? (for now). This is for my 02 Z28
With a small converter you can get by without tuning but a tuned car with a converter is fun on the street and strip. You definitely will some DR's for traction. What converter did you get?
I see your car is an '02. You're probably going to have Torque Management issues, and depending on how high of a stall you may need shift points adjusted as well. Nothing a tune can't fix!

I'm planning on getting the TCI 3000, 2.2str. I need streetability due to traffic where I'm at. For tires on the track I have ET streets, but now I need to sell them due to bells lights and whistles goin off from size diff (abs-no brakes at end of track).

get a bigger stall, dont sell yourself short. It really wont drive bad at all. I've been in a 3800/2.73 and a 4000/3.23 and they ride rice. Some people really love the looseness and I'm thinking I'm gonna be one of those guys. A larger stall and higher STR will make a great launch with the 2.73's and it wont spin up too fast. IF you are worried I'd really look at the VIg 3200 or TCI 3500. do it right the first time and take the rule of thumb and go +1 in your converter choice
a PI Vig3200 would be a great all around converter for your goals. Make sure you get a trans cooler also, and I ran my car with a 3200 and 3600 stall without tuning, just adjustments for shift points with a Hypertech tuner.
Hey I Just Got A Vig 2800 Put In My '02 Camaro Z28 With 2.73 Gears, And It Is Like A Night And Day Difference. Smokes The Tires On Launch And Highway Pulls Are Amazing. I Wanted Just A Little More Punch Out The Hole. A Lot Of People Said Go Bigger, But For Me The Vig 2800 With A Str 2.5 Was Fine. I Drove The Car For Two Days Without Tuning. There Were No Check Engine Lights Or Codes. I Decided To Get Tuning To Firm Up The Shifts And To Have The Cooling Fans Come On Sooner. You Will Defintely Need A Trans Cooler At Least 24,000 Gwv Size. There Will Be A Slight Difference In Driving A 2.73 Stalled Car. It Has A Slight Slipping Effect. My Car Will Still Roll Out On Idle On Its Own Just Not As Fast As Stock. It Will Take A Few Days To Get Use To It. The Only Other Changes I Will Get Is To Have The Idle Raised Just A Bit. If You Have Any Questions Just Pm Me.

THNX 02, that's what I think I'm gonna get. I've been reading alot on the higher stalls having to be tuned due to lockup probs. I just need the same as you, a little better punch from the hole. Then I'll let the nitrous take over. My goal in the 1/8th is 7.6. That's fast enough to beat a friend of mine every time (Honda).
