Exclamation A4 Tranny Help Please... Quick

I have a 1998 Camaro Z28 with an A4.

Here's my problem: My car shifts fine from 1st to 2nd fine and then when it shifts to 2nd to 3rd, the rpms continue to rise and not shift. My car does have a stall I think, its one of the things that was on it when i bought my car used.

Is this a computer problem or tranny problem?

Car was also dyno-tuned by Chris R.

Thanks for your replies,

Justin

The clutch pack that serves third and fourth gear has either burnt out or expired. You need a rebuild. Nothing you can do with fluids or programming at this point will do anything toward solving the problem.

In a 4L60-E this clutch pack is normally almost always the first thing to wear out because it is so overworked. So, basically it's normal.

By the term "a stall" I assume you mean "an aftermarket torque converter" in which case it may have been a contributing factor to shorter life expectancy, however it cannot directly cause loss of third and fourth as you describe.

What part is dying when the trans slips ONLY in fourth gear? Third holds fine.

My Z was bouncing the limiter on the 2-3 shift. Check your fluid level first. I ended up eliminated it with tuning. I scanned the shift parameters with HP Tuners to find when the tranny was shifting comparing speed and RPM. Mine was meeting the speed parameter but not the RPM at the right time to shift before hitting the limiter. I adjusted the RPM shift point down until it started shifting when I wanted it to. I also added a deep tranny pan. It takes a little time. I know it's not slipping because the shifts are very crisp. My problem started with the addition of gears and a little more hp with my 3200 stall tc.
