HELP 2000 silverado with 4l80e
I had problems with the converter staying locked up so I put a shift kit in that was going to fix it. It had the 1870 code. It also kicked out of overdrive into nutral a few times but hasn't for about a month or so. Now my new problem the tc stayed locked up but 20 miles down the road it kicked out of overdrive so I pulled down to 3rd and put it back in OD and 5 seconds later the same thing.

Yes it a 3/4 ton. 6.0 with 87,000 miles. The dealer I went to said it had a po1870 coed, and they said it was a bad converter and wanted $1500 to replace it. So I did some looking around for an alturnative. This shift kit was going to be the solution. I just finished it today so I am not sure the converter lock up is fixed. I only put like 23 miles on it going to work.
What it used to do is unlock the converter and not lock back up untill I would shut off the truck. And when it did this it would shift alot harder then normal, and then the trany temp would go up about 50 degres from what it was at. Today it was fine untill it fell out of gear, then the trant temp went up like it used to but it didnt shift hard.
The kit had a steal plug with a o-ring on it that replaced the factory aluminum one that was supposed to "prevent the trany from falling out of 4th when trans temp gots to hot". I did replace it.
