Default Anyone know the problem here??

my TA is shifting weird. to start off when i put the car in drive.. it takes literally 2 or 3 seconds before it actually kicks into drive. and the shifts feel alittle "loose" for lack of a better word. just weird. also I hit the gas on the highway, and the enigine always used to shoot up to redline and kick into gear. but now it hits the rev limiter acouple times before the gear actually kicks in. it just seems like the tranny or something is really slow. anyone know what this is and how serious? thanks guys.

Brandon

It sounds like the transmission is shot. Have you checked the fluid in it. Does it smell burnt?

1st, start the car and make sure the engine/tranny at normal operating temp.
2nd remove trans dipstick, wipe clean, insert completely and quickly remove again (be sure the hood is open)
3rd look at reading fluid should be within crosshatches.
4th look at fluid, if it appear milky or is very bubbly, may be over-full. Smell fluid. If fluid has potent burnt smell, internal damage is occuring and will most likey require replacement/rebuild.
See your authorized GM dealer
(it's all in the little book in the glove box that says Camaro on it)

It's scarcasm, so don't take to heart.
But that's what mine did when it first started going out. About 3 days later, 1st gear was out all-together. I bought a Hughes and have had ZERO issues for 65k hard miles

Your tranny may indeed be toast, but the symptoms sound like low fluid. Before you assume the worst, make sure to check it according to the proper procedure. Even if it appears full, you may try adding an extra pint. At that point, you will have nothing to lose ...

if it is in the cros hatches, do not add more. 1 pint can be deadly to the tranny. I forgot to say before that when you look at the dipstick look at both sides. sometimes the tube will have an area where it scrapes off the fluid.
