Tranny problems after converter install
got done yesterday putting in a Yank 3800 in my car. problem lies within the tranny. I believe it was caused partially by long usage of a power programmer but I had the HPP3 for a couple years on ym car for shift firmness and all the stuff. I sold ym programmer and the car still had a hard shift and the 2-3 shift started getting kinda sloppy. Well after the converter install i drove the car a little ways, and quite aggressively and the fluid wasnt completely full. The problem started happening in that the car wouldnt shift into 3rd gear. 1 and 2 would work great and in 3rd the tranny would just rev into neutral. So basically i believe my 2-3 and/or 3-4 clutch packs are now toast and it's time for a rebuild. Does this seem familiar to anyone and the clutch packs are the most likely cause? I'm also hitting the rev limiter occasionally so I know i need a tune,. thanks for your suggestions & ideas in advance guys

First things first, have you gotten the fluid levels correct after the converter install?? Does it still not shift properly once you get the fluid at the proper level??
The biggest problem people have with converter installs is not keeping an eye on the fluid and making sure it is at proper level before making WOT passes. I am sure it would be possible to burn it up if beating on it hard with out the proper fluid levels, but i would make sure you get it to the proper level and drive it before you go and replace it.

im pretty sure it's full. i've checked it about 4 times. Ill try again and post back up later. I wouldnt think being a little bit low on fluid would make it slip into neutral on the 2-3 shift
edit: fluid was fine. tranny is toast. I got quoted $1400-$1800 for a rebuild which should handle a great amount of power. IF i had more time and money i could have looked into another tranny. But time and funds are not with me right now. This is my only daily driver and i cant even go on the interstate in 2nd gear

Feel your pain...installed a SS 3200 a week ago and the tranny lasted two days. Shop said the 3 and 4 clutches and bands were burnt up. Just paid $2800 including tax for a Century stage one rebuild. My tranny only had 13,000 miles on it.
