Default 4L60E Rebuild, what to upgrade?

I am going to build a 4L60E, and over at LS1.com, I remember reading a post about what to upgrade in the trans, such as different amount and brand of clutches, etc. Let me know your opinions, please. Thanks, Shawn

I don't know if you're looking to rebuild the trans yourself or if you're looking for a shop to do it. SO, I thought I'd throw out the group purchase that's going on with the level IV FLP trans. The normal price is $2,200, but it's been reduced to $1,800. It's scheduled to run through the end of this month.
If you're looking to do it yourself, I know that Colonel has mentioned using Alto clutches when he had the 4L60E in his car.

I have heard 9 alto clutches and a kevlar band are all you really need, but I personally know absolutely nothing about trannies. Somthing about building up third gear; I think thats where the clutches come into play.

All i have to say is, dont have joe shmo's shop on the corner do it. Take it to a race/performance shop. I learned that the hard way.

No more 4L-crappy-e's for me.

You can contact Chuck Johnson at FLP. He's in charge of the level IV 4L60E build-ups, and he really knows his stuff! (630)820-9294

Spanky, www.MFBA.org has a group dyno on Saturday at FLP. Starts at 9am goes til 3pm. Come by and talk to Chuck and he will give you some advice if you are deadset on doing it yourself.

For anyone interested, best way to email Chuck is thru this address:
