Tranny won't lock up and other problems???
I was getting on the freeway when I gave it some gas to get up to speed. The engine reed up but the tranny didn't catch. So I eased off the gas and the TC finally caught. But it wouldn't lock up. after a mile or so it finally locked up.
When I hit traffic and slowed down, it wouldnt catch 3rd unless I manually shifted it into D3. It would shift to OD but it wouldn't lock. Then it dropped out of gear by itself. Started surging wouldn't get up over 1k RPM.
I exited and pulled into a gas station and the car wouldn't go into reverse. I turned off the car and let it sit for a few. Started it and it ran fine for a little while then started slipping again. Stopped turned it off and waited: I repeated this all the way home.
TC is a TCI SSF3500 that has about 7000 miles on it. The Tranny is a Brand new 4L60E that was just replaced by GM after my last one cracked the housing.
Does anybody have a clue what the problem is, or at least an idea of the best way to diagnose it?

Oh, I also got in the car to drive it down to the shop this morning, and it wouldn't go into any gear. Not even reverse. What the hell could cause me to lose all of the gears
As for weird shifting, that could also be misfire related
(like a bad plug wire making the engine weak, raises the
amount of throttle needed, and this delays your upshift
etc.).
But being low on fluid will also make for bad/odd shifting.
If you can log misfires and the commanded state of the
TCC you can tell whether it's not locking because the
PCM said not to, or because there's something mechanically
hosed and it's not obeying.
From the various engine complaints my money's on misfires.
As a start I would pull and reseat my plug wires one by one,
then check the other connectors (esp. MAF and ECT, seen an
intermittent ECT connection really whack the spark advance
around).
