tranny life question
hey, i've got a a4 02 z28 and was wondering how much power can the stock tranny and rear end handle. i plan to get a sts turbo kit in the near future, and will the stock tranny be up to handling the power?

To answer your question...it really depends on a lot of things. A lighter weight car and one that is properly tuned will last longer. As far as how much power it can handle...not really the factor as much it seems. I see many on here that have their stock trans go out with a couple bolt-ons installed and then there are some that are pushing much more HP that are still running the stocker. Either way it will eventually go out no matter what. Its just a matter of time, as with the stock rear.

It's hard to get a straight answer on the big question of "what can a 4L60-E take?" You'll hear everything from 350HP to 700HP from dozens of different people.
While trying not to offend the many vendors that make this site possible, the ONLY thing I can tell you that the 4L60-E is a LIGHT DUTY transmission. Period.
