Default Question on High stall (3000-3500) on Stock Heads/cam

I was told, My car being a 94 LT1..Does not Work well with a high stall, With the stock Heads/Cam...I was told that I should not go over 2600 as long as i have the stock Heads/Cam, because it wouldnt "utilize my sweet spot"...Im looking for guys who know LT1's to help me out here..being that LS1's have MUCH different heads...What do you think?? is this true? Should I stick with a smaller stall?

and BTW...my formula has bolt-ons, 3.73's, Fresh performance build on tranny, free mods

I would think thats a little high, LT1's make peak tourqe at 2500 rpms (Ithink), so you would want to stall at or around that

I'd go with the higher stall if you plan on doing any future mods, but the 3500 stall with 3.73's feels really good. If not, get a Vigilante 2800.

a 94 wont make a 1-2 shift with much over 2800 stall. It will set a speedo sensor code and defaults to 3rd. The reason for this is the pcm on OBD1 shifts ONLY off MPH at part and WOT. OBD2 uses rpm setpoints for shifting at WOT so its not a problem.
A 2800 vig. will work very well with a stockish LT1

My buddy use to have a 96 vette. He was running a sy3500 and 3.73 rear. Went 12.8 at 103 mph on runflat tires with a 1.8 sixty foot.

96+ is OBD2 so he would have no isssues. Suprused he didnt get even better 60s on a 3500 stall. Must have been the tires.
