break in period for stall converter?
break in period for stall converter? getting my SY3500 w/ tranny cooler installed today!! cant wait. is there a break in period?? do i not need to crank down on it at first? 
If the converter is used than no,
but if it is new you MUST drive easy for the first aprox 100 miles to burnish in the new bearings and the clutch surface and clutch plate
DO NOT Brake stall it till you have done this! as you will damage the roller clutch and lock up clutch and you will make short life of the bearings after that drive fast, run hard

ride it softly for a a little bit, and make sure to check the fluid when it's hot. Youll need about an extra quart for the tranny cooler, and whatever for the size of your converter. Just make sure the fluid is full and youve doen what YANK has said before you romp on it. I romped mine prematurely and ended up having to get another tranny because I burnt up the 2-3 clutch pack.
