My Y3000 suddenly decided to start puking fluid into the bellhousing.

I am looking at TCI, and I need to order tonight or tomorrow AM to ensure overnight delivery on Friday. Can a TCI converter handle my new plans (please see sig) - or do I need to spend the extra $250 on a Vig 3200 ?

...which of the board sponsors can guarantee an overnight converter shipment ? My car is at the trans shop and they're waiting for a converter to put in so I can have my daily driver back.

Weeeeeelll, didn't wait. I'm gonna give the TCI StreetFighter a try. 3000-3400 stall. Ordered tonight, should ship tomorrow and arrive Fri (overnight).

I'll be sending the Y3000 back to Yank to see what happened.

Sounds like ya ought to put a new tourqe convertor seal in it while ya got it out! For safety sake!

 

the tci sf is a nice stall, im rather happy with it.

 

Update : Got the car back with the TCI SF in it. I can feel the 2.2 STR vs. the 2.0 STR of the Y3000, a little tighter part throttle, stall is roughly the same or a little more loose (but hard to tell with the tighter STR), drivability roughly the same, trans temps identical (140 cruise, 180 traffic). Lockup took a little breakin but by the time I got back home from the tranny shop it was locking up as well as the Yank ever did. Good choice I think, happy so far.

The Y3000 has a hairline crack on the machined edge on the flywheel side of the converter between two of the mounting lugs, causing it to lose fluid at pressure. I'll snap a pic before I send it back to Yank for them to take a look. Not sure how that coulda happened - although I'd like to think my car has enough power to tweak a Yank converter chassis I'd think something else would break first, haha.

BTW, no hard feelings at all for Yank - that converter has been reliable for 4+ years and 30k miles with no problems at all. If they hook me up on the repair it may even be going back in sometime.

I'm really enjoying mine - driveability is great and lock-up has been excellent ... but I'm giving the Transgo credit for an assist on that.
