Set your rev limiter to the maximum, 6600 RPM. You do not want the engine bouncing off of the rev limiter, which could result in bent push rods.

Try setting your shift points at 1-2 +3, 2-3 +2, 3-4 0. Also try the power programming. It is shown to provide a 10-20 HP gain on a basically stock car.

Not saying i'm anything but stock, you might

prerequsite free mods!
Double check tire diameter stock 17 25.66

One of the easiest ways to set your shift points is to dyno the car. Find out where the car is making power and how far it carries peak HP. My SS will peak around 5,700-5,800, but it carries it to 6,200 RPM before it starts to fall off. I had Ed Wright set my shift points at 6,200 and my limiter at 6,500 so it's out of my way. I don't have the luxury of being able to play with my shift points, but you do. SO, I'd go to the track on a T&T and play with the shift points. Adjust your shifts one at a time, and see if you run quicker. Once you have the 1-2 shift point set properly, then go in and play with your 2-3 shift point using the same method. Just be sure to take into account any traction variances between runs.

I have mine set up the same as mmiller said and works perfectly, I have similar mods as you. No need to adjust the 3-4 shift for the track. I didn't see a TC in your mod list, you have plans to get one? Really makes a difference

Default Best Shift Points???

I yesterday received my HPP3 programmer. i adjusted the fan temperature to coincide with the 160 degree Powerstat that i have. i bumped up the rev limiter a tad to 6300...but i was wondering if i should change my shift points to shift at higher rpms. i dont know if mods have to do with it but i have a few...offroad pipe FLP longtubes, cutout, comp cam 212/218,ls6 intake, transgo shift kit,bbk throttle body, lid, ported maf ends, MAFT, and free stuff...etc.
any of you that changed your shift points what wouold you recommend?

TIA,

Khris

On street tires i was at 1-2+3 pulled great.
problem was if traction failed ie. slick
surface(water ,old oil,or the usual public
road) my rpm's would shoot-up bouncin off
limiter.Just start where you want, and drive
it.GO up hit,go back down.Street isn't as
controlled as strip.Just my.02 worth.

Be careful with the engine tuning. Make sure you set up a good baseline with your stock tuning and then try the HyperCrap tuning(make only that change). My ET's consistantly got worse(3-4 tenths) every time I installed the Engine tuning. If you have ATAP data log some stock runs and some HyperCrap runs and compare the two with ET/MPH. It helps some people but never helped me.

Example: Stock tuning---29-31degrees advance 0 Knock retart
HyperCrap tuning---24 degrees advance with .5-4 Knock retard

Just monitor your progress and make only one change at time.

I've heard horror stories of Hypercrap power tuning. cause of this very reason i've left my STOCK tuning

these are the changes i've made.

160 degree fan
184mph Limit
Rev Limiter= 6600rpm
Shift Points = 1-2 +3, 2-3 +2 3-4 0
rest of the stuff also stock.
