<strong>Whatever you do LEAVE the top bolt in on your factory diff cover!!! I made that HUGE mistake when prying it off and it FLEW off and made a big stinky slippery mess on my shop floor! <img src="images/icons/shocked.gif" border="0">

2) DO NOT tighten the bearing cap support bolts much at all. If you don't have an inch-pound torque wrench, then just screw those bolts in enough so that they TOUCH the bearing caps, then go another 1/16 or 1/8 turn at most. If you overtighten these bolts, you'll get the OPPOSITE result of what you want... Instead of giving the bearing caps more support, you'll deform them into a slight "W" and cause them to fail MUCH sooner than if you had just left the stock diff. cover in place!
3) I used black high-temp RTV and a GM 10-bolt diff. cover gasket to seal everything up. Might be considered overkill, but like I said... Mine doesn't leak at all.
