Default TH400 drive shaft length?

i have a 1998 Camaro SS M6 with 12 bolt MOSER rear end
i am going to SWAP the M6 by a TH400, i need to know what is the the Drive shaft length that i am going to use ?

i know that it has to be longer but i need the exact length. i am going to get a TH400 from ATI with a 4" tail housing or a 9" tail housing

what is the length of the Drive shaft for a 4" tail housing?
what is the length of the Drive shaft for a 9" tail housing?

thanks for the help

I'm just finishing up a Turbo 400 short tailhousing swap in my 4L60E car with a 9"..How I was told to measure it was from the rear transmission seal to the U-Joint saddle on the 9"..Mine measured exackly 48 1/2 "..

I'm having these people make mine and should have it tomorrow..I can measure just the shaft lenght for you once it comes in because I'm buying it complete with u joints and a slip yoke..

not all cars are the same. and he has a 9" and you got a 12 bolt. they are different.
the easiest way t do it is stick in your stock DS about as far as it usually goes in then measure from the back of the cap on the front u joint (not the part that goes around the cap but the actual cap) to your rear ends yolk where thwe ugoint cap sits. and vuala you have YOUR OWN specific DS length.

I agree! We have a KTRE 12-bolt built by Tom's Differentials and a B&M (short tail) TH400 ... our Wenco Driveshaft had to be exactly 44" long, with a 1350 Richmond yoke. It is better to measure to get the right length driveshaft, otherwise you could end up binding or not being long enough.
