I got a really nice quote from Speed Inc for a TCI 3000, Transgo shift kit and trans cooler. Those guys have great prices and really know their LS1's. Im getting the work done the end of May & will let everyone know how it turns out. Im sure I will be satisfied.

3.42-3.73 gears I would go 3500-4000 stall (IF you are drag racing alot)

2.73-3.23 gears primarily street with some strip I would go 3000 stall

Mine flashes to ~3100-3200rpm.

I was not sure what stall speed I wanted either. I ended up going with a 3000 stall, recommended by Midwest Torque Converters. They offer 1 free re-stall over the life of the converter. So you can match the converter to your application now, and then someday when you have more of a top-end motor you can have it stalled higher for free.

BTW - I got a 3000 stall, but I have a stock ZZ4 crate engine and 3.73 gears, unlike your application.

Keep in mind that even an internally stock motor will be quicker with a higher stall speed, it jsut becomes more of an issue when you get a cam and/or heads.

Actually you may be right, I had enough power to melt the tires through 60 mph with the stock converter and 2.73 gears. Now with the 2400 and 3.15 gears I dont dare run without the traction control engaged. I ran with the Yank 3000 converter for 3 weeks and then swaped it out (it was defective-vibrations) for the stock converter at 2400. I would not go back to a higher stall for any reason.

What kind of tires were you running?
Also, just checking, did you try rotating the converter one bolt hole over?

I have the TCI 242937 SSF but it was CUSTOM BUILT with a BILLET COVER and HD LU CLUTCH because Kevin liked the idea of a stronger verter in heavy GTO..We descussed my ideas and I told him I would NOT remove the 3.46 gears nor run slicks of anykind, only drag radials.

Here is what Kevin did,he built this SSF to SF specs using the the better parts and then told me in my GTO to expect 3200 FLASH but it should feel tight driving away from a light and part throttle too.

I opted for a 2.3 STR and this should really shine in my GOAT..

I was going to run a SS3600 but Mikes new partner took me out of being direct with them becuase I dont buy enough verters...Kinda pissed me off since I bought 4 verters from Mike directly for my personal car, then bought 3 more alittle over 2yrs ago and probably suggested to at least 10 of my friends to call him and buy his products..

So thats when I called TCI (I'm direct with them) and talked to Kevin and I am very happy that I gave TCI my business. They come to the phone, answer all my questions and build a very good verter for the money...We ordered 3 verters from them, sorry Mike I tried to give u my business?

I will be installing mine with the Derale pan (Cooling tube pan) this Monday along with my new tune,I also have Dr's too and once I get it together I hope to make a few runs next weekend..

I have to try and out do my buddy FROSTY and his 12.72 C5
TCI ROCKS

I have street tires EMT's, I've been told that running track tires may reduce the life of the drive train.

We had clearance issues with the Yank converters and subsequently after exhaustive investigation we abandoned them altogether.

Clearance issues as in depth? If so, are you certain someone didn't sell you an F-body converter? Fact is, there are literally thousands of Yank converters installed in C5 Corvettes.

the streetfighter is a great converter.
its knocked off about .6 tenths of e.t off my car.
if you didnt know any better, you would never know that my car was stalled.
