Need help with converter probs
The most annoying problem though is the idle surge I have after the enginge gets up to operating temp. It's most pronounced when I have slowed down and am rolling forward at a idle. It will dip down to 400 RPMs and then back up to 700 RPMs over and over untill I either come to a complete stop or accelerate again. It has died on me more than once while doing this and also when turning sharply at an idle or slightly above. I have tried the idle relearn procedure many times and it only helps a little or not at all, and I constantly check the fluid level to make sure it right. Again I love this converter, but I would like to solve at least the surging idle so drinving could be a little more enjoyable. Sorry for the length, and any advice or ideas is greatly appreciated.
It's not unusual for mine to not lock right away when I/it shifts to OD, it depends mostly on the throttle position or rpm. Backing off the throttle usually lets it lock into OD in the 47-50 mph range, but it will lock anyway if the throttle angle is low enough. And like yours, once locked it will stay that way down to around 45.
