Upgrading converter, looking at TCI, need help QUICK...
Thunder has the 3500 TCI listed as part number 242932 and the 3800 listed at 242934. ByunSpeed said they could get me a 3800 TCI but the part number is 242932 (3500 stall part number from Thunder). I find it hard to believe that the part numbers are so similar from company to company, so it must be TCI part numbers. So I go to TCI's website and they have the Super Street Fighter listed as a 3500-3800 stall, yet more confusion.
To add further to the confusion, I look at TCI's application chart (which doesn't have stall speed listed) and see that model number 242934 isnt even listed for the 4L60E, only 242932.
So I'm just wondering, because there is substantial price difference on Thunder between the 3500 ($530) and the 3800 ($715), and the ByunSpeed price and item number seem to indicate I'd be getting a 3500 stall instead of a 3800 stall, despite them saying it would be a 3800 stall.
Just looking for some advice here. Will this supposed 3800 stall, part number 242932 be the stall I want, or will it be a 3500 stall? I want to make sure I get a 3800 stall as I need at least that (3800-4000). Those with both, what were your part numbers when ordering? Thanks for any help.
EDIT: Upon further investigation, Texas-Speed also has the difference in part numbers and price, so unless I'm just getting a steal of a deal, I think I'd probably end up with a 3500 from ByunSpeed, and I dont want that. I'll probbaly just save up and pick up a TCI 4000 stall ($670 from Texas-Speed) and I think with my cam and gears, that'll be a good compliment to the car, unless of course this ByunSpeed deal is for the right converter.

Bain, I remember some people saying TCI will rebuild an existing converter. I wonder how exactly that works and if it would be the same quality and performance as a true TCI converter. They can only do this with aftermarket converters correct? Because I still have my stock converter sitting in a box and I could send that off no problem. If not I'd have to swap the stocker back in, then send this one off, and then install the new one later. Thats alot of work if it isn't going to perform. With that cam going in soon I need at least a little stall, so that might be a problem also with sending this converter back and running on the stocker for a while.
This converter from ByunSpeed just seems like too low of a price for the 3800 stall (I noticed the difference between the regular and competition converters). Normally around $700 and over $200 off is a heck of a sale, almost too good to be true (especially considering how the model numbers are lining up).

FWIW, Kevin over at TCI was great. I called and left a message, and he called me back within 15 minutes and had listened to my message and had all the answers I needed. Now I just have to do my part and the car will have a quality converter in it finally.
