I have it and really like it, and so do a lot of other guys. Do a search on it and you'll find lots of opinions and thoughts about it.

trans go all the way, you will love not having the lag from downshifting from 4th to second or any other gear, lots faster and firmer. Now with that shift kit go get yourself a converter

How firm do these shift when not at WOT? Like say I'm taking off slowly and not going over 1/4 throttle? I'm wanting one that won't bark the tires EVERY time it goes into 2nd like some I've seen.

Just got mine ordered from Pro Built Automatics today. The guy I talked to was very helpful. Also, got some spring & rings for something or another and also a 3-4 clutch pack. The guy said it will help when i spray and help with the extra RPM. I have no clue about tranny's so Im sure he knows what he is atalking about.
Total with everything mentioned and the "modified shift kit" was around 180. Now bad if it will keep the tranny running longer.

I have one in my 99 C5 and it really firmed things up. I get 1-2 shift wheel spin every time! But a word of caution. Get it installed right and do a tranny cooler if you can. I blew out my overdrive soon after I got it installed and needed to do a complete tranny overhaul. But this was a tranny with 50k miles with some racing involved. The tranny could have been on it's way out already, but the shift kit probably helped it on it's way to heaven. Now, with a built tranny, it just rocks, man. I can't wait to get a TC and tranny cooler on it to really wake things up. But I will tell you that I did not notice a big difference on the track with it as the only change. It just makes daily driving so much more "grin-inspiring." If I had to do it all over again, I would have to install it. I know that with my future mods planned, it would be a great thing to have.

Also know that though the shift kit is cheap, the installation is not. Expect around 250-400 dollars on the install. However, if you are good with a wrench, it comes with a video tape explaining how to install it.

He calls out some different specs for the separator plate holes and a few other things depending on your car, converter, etc. He doesn't modify any of the hard parts.

I have the transgo 4L60E-HD2-B in my 2002.
It's pretty mild if you install it as the directions instruct.
ProBuilt helped me, on this board, to get the shifts to feel like I wanted them to.
I also added a few of my own mods to the trans. I believe taking the trans out and correcting all the design inconsistencies is the right way to build a transmission but the transgo if installed properly gets you good results without taking the trans out.
