what is the difference between a 4l60 and a 4l65?

Default what is the difference between a 4l60 and a 4l65?

wanted to know, any size difference? isthe 65 tougher? thanks

the 65E is the the same thing externally as the 60E. However, the 65E has 5 pinion gear planetaries and has 6 clutches as opposed to 5 clutches. The 65 E is stronger, this is due to the 5 pinion gear, it also holds a little better with the extra clutch. if you were wanting to swap one it it would bolt right up and no problem. If you get a tranny from an escalade or an SS truck they have a different tail shaft housing to support the AWD configuaration.

1's weaker then the other, thats the difference.
