car wont move in any gear

car wont move in any gear just got the car out the shop ( 383 stroker with heads, cam...all bolt on's ) anyway....1 day after i got her back while driving the rev's go up to about 5k...and every gear wont work....now if i turn off car then start it again...it works for alittle bit then the revs spike up and car go no where.......the car had a new built tranny and a 4400 stall......it never went to WOT and never went over 4k till it spiked from lack of gears working......if the tranny is fucked...i have no clue how it went.......before the new motor went in the tranny was fine with many WOT runs
