Default Bad converter? or transmission?

I really hope it is not my tranny. Anyway, starting yesterday, the 'verter would absolutely NOT LOCK at all. I have all my gears. I'm crusing at 80mph at 3k rpms. I had it tuned where it would lock up at 35-40mph, now nothing. I don't have a trans temp guage(I know I should). If I go WOT at a higher speed, the car takes off like it always had been. Down low, it is a dog, and seems to really bog down. Fluid is good. Converter is a TCI 3500, which I've had probably around ~12k miles. I'm buying a converter this Friday(a 4400). Anyone have this problem before? Please advise.

It could be your lockup silenoid(SP?) mine went bad and it would take forever to lock up sometimes.

I have no clue we found out that mine was bad when I did the new tranny. One more thing you might want to log your car and see if you have a lot of misfires they can cause you converter to not lockup as well.

The solenoid valves could be stuck or damaged, or perhaps a faulty electrical connection.

Hmmm....can that solenoid be repaired at a reasonable cost? I'll try and get it checked out soon about the misfires, but I've got the shift points and everything tuned, don't know why it would go bad all of a sudden without something breaking.

Does your car still downshift like it used to? From a stop if you're in "D" does it still run normal at WOT?

Also, more info on this lockup solenoid. Mine will lockup/unlock w/o warning and sometimes won't lock up at all.

The lockup selonoid is about $100 you are better off with a new one instead of fixing the old one even if you could fix it.
