Do you think this stall will be to much for street tires or will I be able to use it after pratice?

Depends on your definition of street tires. If you’ve got/will be getting drag radials you should be fine with practice. Regular Z-rated street tires will be a chore though. Also depends on what type of gears you have/will have.

As long as you get it in your mind that you will no longer be able to just floor it you will learn quickly how to hook on street tires. It won't be easy but it can be done. I highly recommend a set of Nitto Drag radials. To get the best performance out of the converter you should put a set of ET streets on the car and go to the track. I consistantly cut 1.59 60'. No heads and cam. It is the best feeling in the world. Well almost. Good luck and if you need any help just let me know.

What kinda gears ya got?

I got little 2:73s in mine...pretty loose with those in there. Streetability and driveability will change a little...but after a day of driving...you're used to it <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> . You'll definitely roast those street tires if you get on the gas. Get some Nittos or BFGs drag radials <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Steve350,do you have any lockup or solinoid issues that are common on the 01' and 02' cars?I would have bought a converter by now if it wasnt for these issues.

Thanks for the replys. I have 3:42's in right now. I was just curious because I had considered dropping the STR to about 2.2 when ordering one. Since I spend more of my time on the street I think it would be easier that way.

There's a lot of people running this converter in their daily driver. I'm one of them. It's a great converter - loss of drivability is definitely an issue, I'm used to it now, but I still wish it could be this fast with the drivability it had before.

As for street tires... it'll be hard to figure out how to launch without smoking them in place. On the track you should get very good traction with some drag radials like the BFG's or Nittos.

If you get the ST3500, don't mess with the STR...it's perfect the way it is. Yank has spent considerable time finding a delicate balance between giving you a strong launch and good top end. If you don't believe me, check the dyno shop on Yank's website and click on the TT3000 2.5STR. You will see by dropping the STR on this particualar converter, it killed the performance compared to the excellent TT2800 3.0. Sometimes you can ruin a good thing when you start jacking with it. The STR of the ST3500 is fine. If you want less of a hit, get a lower stall like the ST3200 (custom). It has a lower stall and lower STR (pump change, same stator).
