Default Is this really worth it?

Just wondering if you guys think it would even be worth it to change out my Vig3200 for a bigger stall like an SS4000? I have a ford 9" with a detroit locker and 3.73 gears.. and i pulled a 1.73 60 ft on cooper tires.. I am just not sure if it would be worth my money to upgrade to a 4000 stall from Yank or Vig.. Making lats minute decisions.. Anybody have track results to show differences?

If anyone can help me make the decision i'd appreciate it! Thanks

Probably not. Vig 3200 should flash to 3600 or so....I dont think you'd see any benefit on those coopers.

I have a friend with a 93 firebird that has a cc230 cam and a vig3200, he went 12.05 on nitto drag radials. The vigs work good and I dont think it would be worth the cost to swap it out.

Well the advantages are there, If you already have the 9'' then hell why not go bigger stall, so you can get better 60 FT. and come out of the hole on a dead hook. That would be impressive! Plus you can run a bigger cam!! which also is impressive, so there for you will increase your 60ft. time, et. time and make you even more happy.

PS. I just got my Vig 4000, dont have it in yet, but i'm pretty sure ill like it

you will probably shorten your 60' times but the real gain would be with the shift extention which will keep you in the powerband longer and getting you down the track faster. I dont have any experience as im still running my midwest 3k but i look at other peoples rides and see that they are running 3,800+ stall and when they shift to second gear their rpm is 5k+ where as mine is 3,800 or so...

If you're cutting 1.70's now, you'll cut consistent 1.60's with the 4000 and possibly better on occasion. That will translate into bigger gains for your 1/4 mile ETs. Is it worth it? Only you can answer that one, but if it were my car and I had the money, I'd make the switch.

yea i am thinkin i might make the switch.. because a 4000 stall would put me right in y power range for my cam.. at 5000 my cam pulls pretty hard! but i'll have to jump on a dyno and see where my peak horsepower is 1st for sure and base my decision and TC size from that! But i still want a streetable verter.. i heard the SS4000 is nice.. i heard the PY4000 is TOO loose for the street! what you guys think? thanks!

Ok this is me...Now im not the smartest person on here, infact, im prolly not smart at all when it comes to car But one thing i know, is I dont care how "lose" my converter is when im driving it on the street, why? Because, I know when i romp on the bitch, it goes Now maybe you all dont like this lose feeling..hell i dont even know if ill like it, since i dont have my vig 4000 in yet, But i will tell you this. this is for example...If the loser the converter, if it makes me go faster, ill do it, Just as when i switched from LT's, ORY,Hooker catbackwith cut out, I didnt like my performance, so i switched to Loudmouth. In my o, it is noticably quicker accelatrion, so i stuck with it. My car when i get on her screems, but most people who own camaros/ta's hate it. But For me it is what ever goes faster. And that is all on how you set up your car..IE converters...With shift extention and a cam/heads. I dont care how much i have to spend(because i dont make enough, part time and trying to pay for school/and 2 car payments) but ill save until i get the best combo..So I really dont care about how loud my exhause it, how lose my converter is, or how loud my gears wine, because it makes my car go FAST, and thats what makes me Happy

Sorry for the long post

For everyday driving, I think most would be a happier with the SS4000.

I just got the ss4000 to replace my vig3800. Reasons? It will give me just as good of a 60ft(1.7) or better, it will raise my 1/4 mph and it should drive better on the street. The main reason I made the switch was my 12.2@109. The vig launched good but that was it. It was very loose and ate a lot of power up top. When it was locked I made 392 rwhp but I don't think I was seeing even 80% of that up top when it was unlocked. The ss4000 is something like 97%. I think that can make a big improvement. Unfortunatly I havn't installed it yet so I can't prove any of this but I'm excited to find out.
