which would be the best for these mods and only street racing.
NOS 100 shot
B1 cam
SLP LT headers
MTI lid
Borla
on 275 nittos and the occasional et street
the cam, headers, and TC will be added in about a week?

How much HP are you putting to the ground but I would go for a 3200 if I was you. How much do each one of them costs? I am also thinking about these two converters but I have a stock motor. I think I will go with the 2800.

I'm 100% stock internally and just installed a Vig3200. I'm nothing but pleased with it so far, new track times (hopefully better ones!) coming on Saturday...

First of all I would like to say it's great to be here.I've been seeing all the usuals at LS1.Com coming to LS1Tech.com for some time now,but everytime I went to check it out,I was going to TechLS1.Com,and wasn't seeing much action there.Yes,I'm an idiot. LOL
I have a thread going with Ragtop 99 & Another Patrick G on LS1.Com about these two converters. The only thing that hasn't been answered over there is how much people have gained at the track by going from a 2800 to a 3200.So let's try here.Anyone here gone from a 2800 to a 3200 Vig with no other mods & have timeslip comparisons?

I did the 2800 to 3200 swap in my '98 T/A when the engine was mostly stock, and you can tell next to no difference between the two under normal driving conditions. Now, at the track you can see some difference. If I remember correctly, the upgrade was worth right at .1 for me. This was back in '99, and I don't have the timeslips anymore. The Vig 3200 is the best all-around street/strip converter that P.I. makes. It's not too loose to nag you, but it will still shine well at the track. Get the 3200 the first time, or you'll find yourself sending it in for an upgrade before too long. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

The reason I started that thread on the other site was that I'm about ready to send my Vig in for a stall change. After seeing Yanks dyno #'s on both the 2800 & 3200, I was all set to go with the 2800.After all it's got a great reputation. But after talking it out with several people & seeing the comments, I'm now leaning towards the 3200.I've learned to listen to what people say on these boards. If I would've listened when I bought my converter,I wouldn't be pulling it out & restalling it now.(OK Ragtop you can stop laughing now)
About the only thing that's still bothering me is this efficiency on the top end thing for the 3200.Is it really that much of a difference.Judging from the MPH of the guys using it,it sure doesn't seem so.

hey mach...
i am not biased or anything, hehe, but i say vig3200. you'll have the same stall speed, but a higher str for off the line. what rear gears do you have? if you have 3.23's, then it's pretty much a toos up, but if you have 2.73's, you'll really want the high str of the vigilante. good luck with your decision.

I'll say! I swapped an ST3500 for the Vig3200 and LOVE the street manners now (it's no big secret that I found the ST3500 completely unacceptable).
Took it to the track last Saturday for the first time with the Vig installed and went 12.73 @ 107. My previous best with the ST3500 was a 12.75 @ 108.
So a hair improvement in ET with MUCH better drivability from the Vig.
