Default 4L60 question

What's the easiest way to visually tell the difference between the 4L60 and a 700R4? I'd like to know which one I have in my truck.

They are the same, the 4L60E is the computer controlled unit. The 700R4/4L60 have a TV cable going to the throttle body, which controls up & down shifting. The 4L60E does not have this, they are fully electronic.

If it's a stock unit, 1992 should be the last year for the 700R4 unit

Thanks, That makes it easy enough
It has no TV cable so it is obviously a 4L60.
Whats the easiest way to improve the shifting firmness on these?
Thanks again

The dealership can run your vin number and let you know as well. As for the 92' being the last year for the 700R4, my 93' Vette has a stock 700R4..

If it has no TV cable, it is not the 4L60 (700R4). It is the 4L60E, all electronic.

Thanks guys.
I saw the diference in the explanation between the TV cable and electronic version, just inadvertanly omitted the "E" on the end.

Pro Buillt, (or anyone)
What is the easiest way to firm up the shift on these trans? Can it be done without pulling the pan?
Thanks
