Well, it's all been said, converter & tuning, but let me second the guy who noted the difference between LT1 & LS1 ... my 94 A4/3.23 tranny was PERFECT from the factory for the motor - excellent throttle response everywhere in the rev band. When got my LS1 A4/2.73 I could tell it was faster overall, but tranny driveability was horrible and I hated it. Gears, tuning, converter = Cured.
