Default Throttle responce on ls1's suck

Anyone know why the throttle responce on a ls1 f-body sucks. It seems like alot of my non-ls1 buddy's pull 1 to 1,1/2 car from a 55mph roll and I gotta play catch up. I mean it feels like a full second before the damn thing will kick. Any way to fix this problem?

I feel the exact same way with my T/A. My buddy has a '94 Formula M6, which off the nitrous, is significantly slower than my car, yet when he nails it, or even just blips the throttle in say 4th gear at only 30 MPH, it feels like the car just lurches forward instantly.

Yet with my car, it feels like there's some lag when I goose it.

Have you gotten your tranny settings changed via a tune? My stock A4 was the worst slushbox I've ever felt. I hooked up HPtuners and changed some settings, making the shifts quicker, lessing the tq management, etc and it feels 1000 times better than stock. I didn't even mess with the line pressure, left it stock.

Otherwise, it depends what you are comparing the throttle response to, where you are in the rpm's at a certain mph and your gearing. The power of the LS1 is pretty linear, vs the power of say a TPI where it might kick you in the pants down low then run out of breathe at 5000 rpm. Does your tranny down shift into a lower gear? Or are you trying to pull at a low rpm?

Two reasons. One of them certain, one of them only
likely.

One - the A4 part throttle shift tables are factory-
stupid. Won't kick down at useful street speeds at
anything below WOT for the 2-1, and the 3-2 is not
so great either in its profile. Couple that with a low
stall speed converter and you have a pretty weak
around-town feel.

Two - any time you stomp the throttle you fall into
the speed density airflow mode which is sensitive to
back-end airflow mods, if you have a "lean stumble"
then this is your likely culprit. Probably attended by
some knock retard that hangs on for a few seconds.

All programmable, which is the good news. Not so
cheap for the tools, is the bad news. But by the
time you are contemplating your second $1K of mods
it's probably time to step up and get the "OBDII
wrench set".

mine must already be modified because it chirps second damn near every day. If you want real bad throttle response, disconnect the MAF, i did it and it made my last car run shitty, and when you hit the throttle it was just about a 1 second delay, but that bitch would throw ypu back in the seat when it finally opened. kinda funny.

Go buy yourself a nice 3500 stall and when you come back, let us know how that throttle response problem is going for you.

A 150shot on top of a nice stall converter tends to increase throttle response too.

yeah, a stall will help out with the throttle response.

If anything my cars throttle responce is too good. I can just be relaxing in the seat, and push the gas a bit too hard, and slide back, which pulls my foot off the gas, which rocks the car forward, which pushed my foot against the gas, which pushes me back.... You get the idea.

If you are having problems with the A4 not kicking down into a lower gear, just do it yourself. Push button, pull stick down to 2, punch it, push button, push stick back to D.

An underdrive pulley will help your car rev quicker resulting in a better throttle response as well... I definately noticed a difference when I switched back to a stock pulley.

I think mine's got some snap to it... Personally I don't like automatics.. -don't flame me.... That's just M.O.

I've got the M6 w/ a bunch of bolt-ons and no tune yet. Getting a tune when I go home. I'll smoke second all day..
