Default Trans shifting softer after 3500 install!

Just finshed installing a TCI 3500 and now the trans shifts softer. Is this normal?

Yup it is....the stall softens the shift quite a bit....

Just firm up them shifts with tuning or a shift kit(preferrable).

Yep, they do that. Did you research what a converter does and doesn't do before getting one? It's a common "problem" you could say. Shift kit will fix you right up.

It's hard enough that it's easier to do it with the tranny out of the car - the perfect time was when you had the tranny out for the converter. You're going to be working with the valve body quite a bit ... Your aftermarket converter is physcially smaller than the stocker and doesn't move the fluid volume of the bigger one. The shift kit enlarges the feed holes in the separator plate to increase fluid circulation and makes other alterations that firm up the shifts and prolong tranny life.
