Thanx TR for the info.... I called Mike@Yank a few times and the only recommendations I could get were from the lady answering the phone. When I finnally got a hold of him I had told him I was a 6speed guy so going to an A4 was tought (read: I didn`t want anything too lose) He told me he`d recommend the 4400 stall converter, even when I told him that`s way tooo much he`d said it would be fine....YEAH OK thanx alot for nothin!

Vigelante gave me a real recommendation.

I sure do remember Josh, I just wanted to help anyone else out that may be reading this thread but not posting.

Lots of guys out there with '01+ A4 cars and they may be thinking about a converter. I want to help them go into one with their eyes wide open and know what to expect / can happen.

Like I said, I think the Vig feels tighter than the Yank in my 3.23 car under around-town driving.

I did sell the ST3500 and have not heard a word about it either way.

The problem very, VERY well could be that the '01+ PCM doesn't want to work with the Yank for whatever reason but the Vig will. Heaven only know what the story with that is...

Based on all the posts I've read about converters in these forums, your '99 will probably be fine with an ST3500. Either way, you're going to be very pleased with the performance.

Have you started saving for tires? You're gonna need 'em!

Must be hit and miss. My 2001 Z28 had zero problems with the yank st3800 and yank pye3400. I had the stock pcm, stock gears, bolt on mods.

Thanks for posting the info up TR. It looks like the converters are identical in performance for the most part.

That's a shame that you get bashed for sharing your thoughts and experiences. These boards can only help if we share the TRUTH with each other, not what most want/expect to hear. I thought you were very diplomatic in saying that it's different for every car, and others may not experience the same. Thanks for being willing to still share the info.

if you recall George C did not gain anything at all with the high priced Yank converter either. those 400 dollar range 3 speed converters work just fine
