Question Tranny Dipstick very loose

I just noticed that the tranny dipstick is very loose, I happen to be adding fluid when I looked on the floor and it was everywhere Other than the bolt behind the head is there some kind of seal or o-ring on the end of the dipstick that might might be missing and that's why it spilled?

I'mnot familiar with the Manuals, but on the A4 (which I believe you have) where the dipstick goes into the tranny pan there should be a rubber o-ring. Often they crack after 3-5 years, or if people pull the tranny, they often get shoved into the pan when reinstalling the transmission because someone didn't line the dipstick up right.

When my tranny was pulled last time, the bolt wasn't removed from the back of the engine and actually a hole was torn in the dipstick tube.

Last time I will forget that bolt exists.

There is a seal that the tube goes into. Part number 1259475 if ya need one. Mine leaked there a little too.

If yours leaked that bad check to see that it's seated the whole way.

Thanks!

The minute I finish typing this up the car is going up on jacks. I'm doing engine oil so I might as well check that problem out. I'll keep it posted.
