Default Driveability difference between a 2700 stall and a 5300 stall?

NOT MUCH!
This is for all the guys that are afraid of a big stall.
I had an 8" 5300 stall in my bolt on only SS. Took out the stall to get it redone to a 4600. Meanwhile since this is my daily a friend let me borrow his 9.5" Vigalante. it stalled up to about 2700 on the brake. Well it drives around not much different from my 5300. When leaving a light the 5300 is at about 2500 where as the 2700 is at about 2000. other than that driving around town is almost the same. the 2700 did spin the tires once when i left a stop sign and went through a puddle.
Of course when i punch its a completely different story.

500 rpm is a lot of difference day in and day out. My YTP 4200 was about the same as your 5300; about 2600 on a typical launch when leaving the light and not stuck behind granny. After a year or so I grew tired of it as a daily driver, especially after an exhaust change made the car a bit louder.

But driving the car wasn't that bad. My wife, who's normal car is our minivan, drove the car occasionally and didn't anything of it. Her only gripe was the noise.

I think it can make a huge difference, but it depends on the converter brand and type not just the stall rating. I went from a vig 3800 that was pretty loose to a yank ss4000. The yank is much more street friendly even though it has a higher stall rating. Its not anywhere near as loose as the vig was. The ss series is made to be better for street driving, so even though it stalls higher, it is still able to get the car moving with less throttle than the vig. I would imagine going from a yank 2700 to a vig 5300 would be a night and day difference.
