ST3500 problems... Yank customer service?
Anyway, I'll e-mail Mike, but from the stories I'm hearing off the board, I don't expect much.
I planned on changing my fluid/filter tomorrow but I shouldnt even bother.
As far as I can tell, my converter clutch has almost completely come apart at this point. Based on the continuing flood of horror stories I'm getting in e-mail from other people with the same problem with Yank converters, I figure that no matter what, the problem will be blamed on my having run MAF ends for the first 6 months. There are people telling me that they were verbally attacked for posting similar problems with Yank on this and other message boards. I suppose I'm lucky that the worst I've gotten is lies and condescension.
I'm putting the stock converter back in my car next week, until I decide what to do.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I think a bad or defective product is bound to happen at times. But the measure of a company is how they deal with the problem. I guess they can just ignore the problem and refuse customer service or stand behind the product, own up to the mistake and make the customer happy.
Sure sounds like people are starting to come out of the woodwork with Yank converter problems. One would think Yank would be concerned about this, especailly the fact their once spotless reputation is now being tarnished. The stories I've read lately and talking with Kristi sure does turn me off to Yank.
If there's a problem with the converters it should be made right. People don't like spending their hard earned money on a defective product and then have the manufacturer be rude and blame the customer for the problems.
I hope these problems are resolved soon, because this is not cool!
Is a shift kit required or recommended?
Yank Performance Converters can achieve maximum performance and efficiency without the use of shift kits. Shift kits dramatically raise transmission line pressure to increase shift firmness. Increased shift firmness will not increase performance, but create unnecessary stress on the transmission and other drive-line components.
It seems to me that the ported MAF ends are causing insufficient line pressure and Yank is blaming that on the slippage in the converter. Wouldn't a Transgo alleviate that problem while still allowing for MAF ends?
Maybe I'm over simplifying this.
BTW, I have a Vig3200, and except for a P0300 misfire SES I get because of a low idle, no problems so far. I love it! (Thanks BradWS6)
Their warranty should also state SPECIFICALLY that it does not cover converters used with MAF ends and/or shift kits.
Just my $.02
I think these are growing pains of a small company that got big too fast. Wasn`t Mike working aout of his garage not too long ago?? (something I heard)
I`m sure on a small scale Yank can do some great things and i`m sure for people like the Colonel Mike personally makes sure it`s his best product.
This however cannot be the case for everyone especially when they are swamped... quality suffers.
I do the same thing, when I`m not busy I take much better care of my customers....when it`s a 100* degrees out and I got 200 people screaming they need airconditioning NOW unfortunately work quality suffers.
