Default Pro 5.0 installation

Just got my new Pro 5.0 and have printed out all info at installuniversity.com. Everything looks pretty straight forward. Are there any "Gotcha's" that I need to know about?

I don't know if the write-up mentions it, but make sure you locktite the bolts that hold the shifter handle to the shifter base.

Site says (and shows a picture) to use Red RTV Silicone Gasket Maker. I should be able to pick this up at Autozone

I did a search on this site and found the following: did you cut the rubber boot that mounts to the floorboard and goes around the shifter or did you remove this and put it on OVER the shifter?
You'll hear more noise if you cut it. I don't cut it--despite the instructions. Not necessary.

Can someone tell me a little more about this! The instructions are pretty specific about cutting the boot. <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

I remember that post.... was I in that message ?

Anyway... you want to cut the boot and form it around the base of the shifter, this is so that road grime and dirt doesn't get into the top. You don't want that to happen.

So cut it, and make sure the rubber fits around the circle.

Just be careful when you take out the console. I did mine at 3 in the morning in the driveway with hand tools. Easy and the best money ever spent on my car.
