OK guys. Some of you might be aware I have a cracked flywheel. This sounds silly but I haven't even had the time to look at it. But I do know it is cracked. If the cracks are hair line cracks, or even widespread cracks, can I weld it? I figured I could weld over the cracks (hardsurfacing even) and then get it balanced. I can't afford a TCI. Would this work? Or should I not deal with it and hope for the best with a new OEM?
Thanks,
Philip S.

In other words take the old one off and throw it away, buy a good new one when you can afford it.

i forgot to tell you in the last post you made about the flywheel. The 2001-2002 flywheels are the junk thin ones(something i need to look out for also). Go to the junk yard and find yourself a 98-2000 wheel, thoes are the thicker ones which i never heard about anyone cracking...

yea i know, i had to look into it when i seen a few posts about it and found out the 01-02 years were the crap ones. Most upgrade to the tci one but if no one cracked the 98-2000 models than why not use one of thoes..

A tip for you guys looking at stock flex plates, the new 6l80 transmission cars and trucks come equipped with a dished LS bolt pattern flex plate that interchanges with the f body. We have found the newer plates to be a higher quality than some of the old stuff.
