Default Yank 3000 vs. Vigilante 2800

My buddy has a 2000 Vette with 3.42s he is considering these converters. I would like to get your opinions on these two converters. Does the Vigilante have an advantage because it is 9.5 inches vs. the Yanks 10.5 inches? Which would be tighter?

I have a Y3000 that was upgraded to a 3200 stall with a 1.87 STR. For all intent and purposes it drives exactly like stock, maybe a little harder on the 1-2 shift. Went from best of 13.1 to 12.61, and 1.76 60s.

The same time I did the Yank, one friend put in a Vig 2800 and another did a ST3500. The Vig took him down to 1.68 60s and knocked his ET from 13.2 to 12.44. The ST3500 went from 12.98 to 12.3 with a 1.66 60s. The Vig is a little looser and closer in comparasion to the ST3500.

Overall the Vig seems to be better performing at the track than the Y3000 and more comparable to the ST3500. The Y3200 has better street manners.

Also all of us run Hoosier QTPs, all are 01s and bolt on mods. Though I'm a Z and the other two are WS6s.

Good Luck

The Vettes are more sensitive to slip codes and such with their tight pcm parameters and throttle-by-wire control. Because of this, the larger converters like the Yank C5 3000 (265mm) and C5 Super Yank 3500 (258mm) have been more streetable and more pcm friendly than the 245mm converters from Precision.

The Vig 2800 would be quicker than the Yank 3000, but it would not have near the stock-like street manners. Depends on how quick your friend want to go.
